This is my take on Kurt Vonnegut’s short story, 2BRO2B (To Be or Not to Be). It’s about a society that has cured aging and enjoys the positives and negatives of an indefinite lifespan. In order to maintain the balance, society has to maintain its population size to 40 million. So with every life that comes in, a life also has to go out - voluntarily. Much of the story takes place in the clinic that handles these voluntary suicides thus my illustration reflects the gloomy atmosphere of a cracked hospital floor. Two ideas have influenced this illustration. One being that underneath every stable construct is a life onto its own and secondly, that out of death comes life.
